Hey Subscriber First Name

At Purple Couch Therapy, we know that motherhood is often spoken about in terms of joy, connection, and new beginnings.

And it can be all of those things.

It can also be overwhelming, isolating, and emotionally exhausting in ways that are rarely named out loud.

Many mothers carry these experiences quietly while navigating pregnancy, recovery, and the early months of caring for a new baby.

During Black Maternal Health Week (April 11–17), we are reminded that these experiences do not exist in isolation. They are shaped by systems, access to care, cultural context, and the lived realities of Black mothers and birthing people.

This week is about more than awareness.
It is about listening, advocacy, and creating pathways to care that are accessible, affirming, and rooted in community.

In alignment with this, we created the Maternal Healing Access Fund.

This initiative is designed to support pregnant and postpartum mothers and birthing people by helping them access:

• Therapy sessions with a licensed clinician
• Care navigation support
• Connections to trusted maternal healthcare providers
• Referrals to community-based resources

This work is grounded in the understanding that emotional support is not a luxury.
It is a necessary part of maternal health.

At this time, we are able to support 4 individuals who are pregnant or within 12 months postpartum and living in Bexar County.

If you or someone in your community may benefit from this support, we invite you to apply or share this opportunity.

We also encourage doulas, birth workers, healthcare providers, and community advocates to share this with individuals who may be navigating this season without the support they deserve.

This is a small offering, and it is part of a larger commitment to ensuring that Black mothers and birthing people are supported, seen, and cared for in ways that honor their full humanity.

With care,
Jess
